Our Musings

Wherever two or more people get together there is conversation and relationship that can either be the birthplace of connection or conflict or sadly both. We can be inspired by the people we live with, work with and love or we can be brought to our knees.

The Dali Lama’s message of putting compassion back on the agenda suggests we need our conversations to be human to human, bringing humanity not our pedigree to the table.

Changing the world one conversation at a time.

Leaders are increasingly learning to be coaches and yet they don’t always need to be coaches. However, they do always need to be leaders. At The Laid Bare Company we believe that leaders who can have courageous conversations can transform their work and business. ‘Being’ or ‘Doing’ coaching is the latest trend in business leadership but does learning to be a coach or do coaching get in the way of connecting and having transforming conversations?

As Simon Sineck suggests we need to start with WHY? Why are we learning to coach? If we strip back all of the coaching skills, processes and techniques and bring it down to absolute basics without the mystique, great coaching equates to a great conversation. People truly listening to each other.

Suzanne and Karen have developed a model for having courageous conversations standing on the shoulders of so many giants in the field. This model is the basis for our programme of Developing Leaders as Coaches. Individual leaders and organisations will benefit from learning our approach to managing relationships and facing into difficult conversations with clarity, compassion, curiosity and courage taking you to the heart of the matter.
